In these dark times there are a few ways to get through a tough day at the office. The only one I can think of that doesn’t break my company’s employee handbook is to listen to music (although a little drink here and there when no one’s looking can’t really be all that bad). Lately I’ve been gravitating towards upbeat, fun music rather than my normal melancholy singer-songwriters. Right now I have 2 cds on perma-repeat. The Glee soundtrack and the soundtrack to the musical Hairspray. OMG. I love them both sooo much. If you haven’t seen Glee or Hairspray (the newer version), please… close your browser and do it.
However, these cds are so good that it’s very difficult at work to not sing out at the top on my lungs. Like, I have to cover my hands over my mouth sometimes to keep the musical joy from springing forth. I have decided the world would be a much better place if my cubicle was soundproofed so I could sing loudly as I worked. I could also mutter swears at people without them hearing. With this tiny improvement to my cube, I could get out all my anger and frustration through song (and swears).

I feel like I’m babysitting a bunch of grownups. Is it really that hard to take a little initiative? I don’t think I’m being paid to be a personal assistant to anyone, but apparently that’s not the case. If you get a reputation as someone that gets stuff done, you are screwed. Then people decide you can get things done that have absolutely nothing to do with your job. And it’s probably not the best idea to say “that’s not my job” to your boss or close to it.
But really… select your own font, fill out your own form, change a document name, and add a space to the document yourself. Cut out the middleman.. .efficiency people!
Also, when I’m the one you’re turning to to ask why $40,000 isn’t showing up, you have bigger issues than what font to use!

At the encouragement (read: bullying) of my dear friend Seattle Something, I’m getting off my lazy a and doing this blog thing again. And doing it right. And it’s really not for anyone else’s sake but my own because I fear if I don’t start writing some of this crazy stuff, I’m going to explode. As Gwen Stefani says, this shit is bananas, b a n a n a s.
More bananas to come.
But first some fun times. I had a wonderful thanksgiving at the cabin. There was maybe 6-12 inches of snow, which Rugbie was quite unaffected by. I expected some reaction, but there was just an instant acceptance. Perhaps because it was pretty packed down, he just thought it was a cold sidewalk. We’ll have to see when New Years rolls around what he thinks.
Rugbie went on his first hike about 1/4 way up dirty face. He absolutely loved it. He was sprinting up and down the trail, following Lass and Sheila everywhere. So cute! He was so tired when we got home (finally, we wore him out!).
I spent most of the time stitching (and bitching haha) and getting my craft on. I really missed craft time! I decided a while ago I really wanted to (re)learn to knit. I can already crochet, but I like the look on knitting as well, so I wanted to have both skills. My future goal is to be able to knit/crochet a lot of my cold weather clothing… sweaters, hats, leg warmers, socks, mittens, red riding hoods… everything. I love me some wool.

so, seattle something (insert link here, too tired right now to do it!) is going tomorrow to look at a puppy. I’m so jealous! But I just found a litter of Goldens that I’ve got my eye on. Now I just need the husband’s approval. Fingers crossed!

My facebook “friend” posted this disturbing message tonight…
Ok so my son is amazingly handsome and I do have to say I don’t look to bad myself. His friend actually called me a MILF
there are way too many things wrong with this!

So Wednesday around the office was really tense. We were all packing our desks for the re-move while our boss and several head honchos were having several closed door meetings. I was getting a really bad feeling that the ish was going to hit the fan. I was thinking perhaps this is a fake move and they will just lay all of us off and we just saved them the time of packing up our stuff. You really never know.
Well, I checked my email today and got the announcement (not from my boss, but from the person laid off) that one of our most knowledgeable guys and his son were laid off Wednesday evening. We’ve let go so many people who knew their stuff and kept people that know nothing. I’m no MBA, but that seems backwards to me.
Also, the email said we’re going to close down our warehouse. Awesome. All signs point to collapse at this point. I think I’ve decided to hang on to the titanic until it sinks. There’s no point of bailing out into freezing waters until the last possible moment. Maybe I should get pregnant now…
In other news, the hubster has installed our toilet, so I don’t have to use the Port-o-Pot anymore. YAY! We’re hoping to have the shower done in the next week or so.

Back in the office after an amazing trip to Montana with Seattle Something (more on that later). When I arrived to the office today I saw everyone’s stuff in boxes. OMG. Everyone is fired, I thought. But no, it is worse, we’re MOVING. Grrrrr.
We’re moving back to the store on VERY short notice. Our office is just too big now that our world take-over failed and everyone was let go (well, almost everyone). The store is already full, however, so we are going to get crammed into a hallway. This is going to be awesome. I no longer get to sit by B-girl, my only key to sanity, and there is a balcony just high enough to do some damage if I decide enough is enough.
Oh and another fun tidbit.. we’re moving our entire server room with no IT staff. Maybe I’ll just get to sit in front of a blank computer screen all day. Oh wait, I basically do that anyway.

Dear Mac,
I’m obsessed with you. I lud my laptop more than almost anything else in the world. My ipod is a faithful friend on tough days in my cubicle. Sometimes you’re a little more expensive than others, but you are worth it. You have never let me down… UNTIL NOW.
$79 for a new power cord???????????????????????????????? Honestly, my friend, that hurts.
I still lud you, but it’s going to take a while for the sting to wear off.
Tammy
To all you Mac friends out there, if you use your laptop at places with no surge protecter (cafes, the library, in your bedroom watching movies past your bedtime), you are going to burn a hole through your cord and it sucks. The guy at the mac store talked me into a mini surge protector that I can take anywhere.

There seems to be a new trend out there in the world of weddings and he’s called the drunk groomsman. The drunk groomsman likes to follow around the photographer and distract them from doing their job. They refuse to look at the camera and cannot stand up properly for photos. They lunge at the photographer for an extra long handshake or even a hug, if they can catch the photographer off guard. They enjoy spilling their relationship secrets to strangers. They disappear into the forest at crucial points of the wedding.
So, future brides, make sure you have at least one on hand if you want a trendy and modern wedding.
